Empowering Youth Through Solar & Mechanical Skills Training

In Afmadow on 14 Feb to July 2026*

Where opportunity is scarce and the pull of harmful paths is real, SWRO is turning potential into purpose.

Through our Solar and Mechanical Skills Training Program, 14 at-risk young people are gaining hands-on, certified technical skills in solar installation and mechanical repair equipping them not just with tools, but with a future. These are youth who stood at a crossroads. Today, they are technicians, problem-solvers, and community assets.

Why it matters

Afmadow faces chronic youth unemployment, limited vocational pathways, and growing social pressures that push young people toward illegal activity and harmful social norms. SWRO’s response is practical and proven: remove the vacuum, fill it with skill.

Participants receive structured training delivered by qualified instructors, combining technical knowledge with hands-on practice in solar panel installation, wiring systems, and basic mechanical repair  skills directly aligned with Somalia’s growing renewable energy needs.

The impact goes beyond a certificate

Graduates leave with marketable skills, professional confidence, and a peer network rooted in purpose not in risk. For many, this program is their first structured investment in their own future.

At SWRO, we believe that when you equip a young person with a skill, you protect a community.
